Bulalo (Beef Shank Soup)

I have been wanting to make bulalo and finally I was able to make some a few days ago. Bulalo is one of the most favorite recipes in the Philippines. It is very easy to prepare but getting the beef shank tender takes time.

Here’s what you need:

1 lb beef shank
1 small bundle of bokchoy, whole leaf individually detached
2 pcs corn, each cut into 3 parts
3 pieces medium sized jalapeño peppers
½ cup green onions

Rice, Very Labour Intensive Crop

photo IMG_0275_zpscjamoeft.jpgMy meal wouldn’t be complete without rice. That’s the way we ate when I grew up in the Philippines. Even though I have been living here in America for more than six years now, I still eat rice almost every meal.

Rice is very important in the Filipino culture. There are many different varieties of rice there in the Philippines. Many were pioneered or bred by the Philippine Rice Institute. When you go to a supermarket or wet-market you will find dozens of different types of rice for sale at greatly varying prices. Rice is also the main ingredient in …

Ways Humidity Affects the Interior Temperature of the Home

Image via Flickr by yourbestdigs

We’ve all sweltered on a humid day, even though our phone’s weather app tell us it’s not that hot outside. That’s because humidity can warp our perception of temperature. The same principle works inside our homes. Learn more about how humidity can affect the temperature inside your home.

Snow Crab for Dinner

No automatic alt text available.Snow crab for dinner sounds so good. That is what my husband and I have for our dinner tonight. However, the two-pound snow crabs are probably not enough to satisfy the both of us. It would probably take about ten pounds to satisfy my cravings for it.

We seldom buy crabs because they are usually pricey. But whenever there is a big sale at the nearby grocery store, we definitely buy some. Crab is one of my favorite kinds of seafood. I really like seafood and could eat it in every meal, especially crab.  Last night we had salmon.

I am a big …

I Love This Sensationnel Bare & Natural Remi Weave – French Twist

This is a sponsored post. All opinions are mine.

Last year, I had a problem with hair loss.  I still have no idea what caused the problem.  I am guessing, it was probably due to stress.  It was so severe that at some point in time, I was afraid to take a shower fearing that all of my hair would fall out.  My hair was so thin that I was even considering wearing a wig, especially when going out of the house.  My hubby had been telling me not to worry about it and that my hair would grow back.  He …

Luma Soda – Naturally Sweetened and Flavored Soda #DrinkLuma

Someone was chomping at the bit to try Luma Soda.  Yes, my husband could not wait to open one before I finished my photography.  He opened the cherry cola.  He likes almost everything with cherry flavor.  He was sipping it while watching his favorite show on television.   That’s a nice way to relax at home in front of the fireplace, right?

Luma Soda has four different distinct flavors: cola, cherry cola, blood orange and lemon lime.  What makes Luma soda different from the typical soda is their health benefits and natural flavors.  Luma is sweetened with natural honey and nature-made monk fruit …
