Electronic Cigarettes

Neither my hubby nor I smoke. I have never smoked in my life but my hubby did for about ten years when he was younger. It was very easy for him to quit but that is not usually the case for most people. His older brother has struggled to try to quit smoking for many years and never was successful. I don’t know if he has ever tried electronic cigarettes but I think I will mention it to him the next time we get together.

There have been no definitive studies yet on either the success rate of changing tobacco smokers to e-cigarette users or the health benefits of e cigarettes. I guess, E cigs have not been around long enough yet to prove their benefits. Despite that fact, it seems fairly obvious that e cigarettes could well be a great solution to the well known health problems cause by long term tobacco smoking. The cost and personal consequence of smoking tobacco has been well documented for many years now and electronic cigarettes could be the answer to one of the worst preventable health issues in not only this country but the world.

Now that we have a new healthcare system installed in this country, I think that in effort to study the long term effects of electronic cigarettes versus tobacco should be funded in order to make the likely case for encouraging smokers to turn to Electronic cigarettes. With the new healthcare system, the cost of preventable diseases due to smoking is being forced upon those who don’t smoke. That has always been the case in the past but now it is more directly obvious with everyone being forced to buy healthcare insurance whether they use it or not.

My hubby just now talked to his grandson, who smokes occasionally, asking him whether he had tried e-cigarettes but he said he had not. He said that many of his friends had tried them and the only thing he had noticed was that they tended to smoke the e-cigarettes more than what they did with tobacco but that may have been due to the lower cost of using e cigarettes versus the high cost of tobacco products. If it turns out that e-cigarettes are either harmless or much less harmful, smoking them more would not necessarily be a bad thing.
