Fishing is Fun!

I didn’t know how much fun fishing was until I got here to the US. Even though I live near a big lake when I was still in the Philippines, I didn’t get a chance to go fishing there. My father wouldn’t let us go to the lake because we did not know how to swim.

My hubby has always been a big fishing fanatic. He often serves as a fishing guide to our friends and family. When I first got here, I took to fishing on the lake immediately.  At first, I was scared to be in deep water, especially when the lake was rough but I got used to it quickly and now it doesn’t bother me anymore.  We only live about a mile from the boat landing and like to get out as often as possible during the spring and summer seasons.

Fishing is a fun thing to do but it can also be a hard work. I like to catch and eat the fish but I don’t like cleaning them. My hubby likes having grilled crappies with butter on them. Outdoor grilling here we go.  Aside from crappies, we usually catch a few large mouth bass, walleye, bluegill, northern pike and rock bass. The meat of the large mouth and rock bass are not as good as crappies but they sure have caviar which is the best part of the fish ever.  If you’ve never tried fish eggs, you should give them a try.

The best fishing trip we had so far this season was in late May.  My hubby and I thought we caught our limit of crappies but we were actually one crappie shy.  Someone miscounted and unfortunately, it was me.  I was disappointed with myself because I took all of the crappies we caught that day to my younger sister.  I could have saved that one crappie for myself Facebook big smile - Grin emoticon .  I am so looking forward to catching more crappies in the next few days.
