Japanese Wood Memo Pad

I seldom use memo pads. What I usually use is the post-it sticky notes because they occupy less space and I can easily post them on the side of my monitor.

It has been a while since the last time I went shopping for memo pads because I don’t have much need for them.  When I was given an opportunity to give this Japanese Wood Memo Pad a try, I did not hesitate to take advantage of it.  I find it very unique and attractive.  I have never seen a memo pad that looks and feels like the Japanese Wood Memo Pad.  It is one of a kind.

The size of the Japanese Wood Memo Pad is 15.4cm x 10cm.  It fits nicely into a purse or pocket.  It is made of 100% pure shaved Pine and is grown in a renewable Japanese tree farm, which means there are no chemicals or binders involved.  I know that most memo pads and papers are made of trees.  However, this Japanese Wood Memo Pad is unique because the grain of the wood shaving is visible and I find that gorgeous.  This pad is somewhat more fragile than regular paper pad so you have to use a bit of a soft touch when writing on it but the end result is well worth the effort, especially if you want to pass the note on to someone else.

I had fun playing with it.  As you can see, I was just using a regular pen when writing on the sheet and I recommend placing the cardboard backing directly under it.  It works perfectly fine if you use that technique.  I just flipped it under the sheet that I was writing on.   I also recommend using a cutting knife and ruler when you remove each page.

If you are an artistic person, you can make good use of this pad in many different ways.  For someone like me who is not that crafty, it adds great ambiance to the romantic little notes I send to my hubby sometimes.  Otherwise, maybe I will just display it on my desk because I like the attractive wood grain shavings.
