Ahh yes, spring has sprung and April showers bring May flowers, that’s the way it is supposed to be now right? That was what we were expecting when we got back from the Philippines on March 19th. Here it is now a full month later and this is what our garden looks like.

During the month that we have been back, we have continued to endure sub freezing temperatures and multiple snows. We are beginning to feel like we will have to endure an entire winter even though we actually got back at the beginning of spring. Oh well, so much for the theory of global warming.

We were excited and anxious to get back to get an early start on our garden and yard work this year but it looks like, we will probably have to wait at least another month until the snow finally melts. Despite the poor soil and short growing season here, we had the best garden ever last year and we had really been looking forward to getting an early start this year. We have learned that we need to fortify our poor soil with a lot of mulch and fertilizer in order to get things to grow well. We have just found out about a new product called Scotts Florida Select Natural Eucalyptus Mulch. It sounds like a really good way to help fortify our soil while keeping weeds down at the same time. We can put it on our garden after the plants start coming up to help keep the weeds down and maintain the soil moisture. In the area, there are front entrance where we have several blueberry plants and strawberry plants already established, we can use it immediately, at least immediately after the snow melts!

Unfortunately, for the time being, we can only make our list of gardening supplies and plan to include Scotts Nature Scapes mulch as one of the essential products we will need to create a sustainable gardening patch.  Florida Select Mulch is made from 100% Florida-grown Eucalyptus. Eucalyptus Mulch is a sustainable Cypress alternative, grown in Florida, for Florida! If you don’t live in Florida area, Scotts Nature Scapes mulch is an option for your lanscaping needs this Spring! It comes in 3 different colors: Classic Black, Sierra Red, and Deep Forest Brown and they’re natural forest products – no waste wood and come in a variety of textures. Scotts Mulch helps to maintain moisture, prevent weeds, and create a groomed landscape all year long.
